Gifts to Improve Her Health
Tens Unit– If your loved one suffers from chronic pain, this little gadget should be at the top of your list. Tens units are inexpensive, but can provide so much relief. They use electrical impulses to reduce the nervous system’s ability to transmit pain signals. I have this this particular device and it is a godsend when I have flare ups.
Extra Large Heating Pad– I recommend this heating pad again and again because it is SO BIG. Even if you have a smaller one at home, upgrade to this one. The extra large size is so relaxing and the super soft fabric makes it that much more cozy.
Healthy tea and mug– Remind her she’s a badass with this cute and hilarious mug. Don’t forget this healthy turmeric ginger tea to go with it. Turmeric and ginger are anti-inflammatory, making this the perfect gift for someone with chronic illness.
Gift certificate- Massage, acupuncture, and yoga have all been shown to be beneficial to those with endometriosis and other chronic illnesses. Find a local spa or yoga studio and get her a gift certificate to try one of these therapies.
Gifts to Pamper Her
Robotic Vacuum Cleaner– Take a household chore off her plate by getting her a robotic vacuum cleaner. I recommend the bObi vacuums- their battery lasts, they clean well, and the customer service can’t be beat. I love that I don’t have to push a heavy vacuum cleaner around anymore, especially on days I’m having a flare up.
Weighted Blanket– A weighted blanket will help her fall asleep quicker and sleep more soundly. I find mine to be so relaxing and even helps relieve my anxiety. This one is cooling, making it great for those in warmer climates or who experience hot flashes.
Bathtub Tray– Surprise her with this dreamy bathtub tray to take her relaxing bath to the next level. This tray holds everything she needs for some at-home self-care. Don’t forget the bath pillow to make sure she’s extra comfortable!
Bath bombs and salt– Kick her bath up a notch with some fancy, relaxing bath bombs and salts. These bath bombs are a fun way to add some pizzazz to her bath, but they also help relax sore muscles and aches. These bath salts are great, too! They are so calming and soothing.
Loungewear– Whether she’s having a flare-up or she just wants to be cozy, this loungewear is the perfect gift for anyone with a chronic illness. She will feel cute and stylish, even if she’s not feeling great that day. She’ll appreciate this alternative to her go-to sweatpants, trust me!
Aromatherapy candles– You can never go wrong with candles, right? These aromatherapy candles come in lavender and rose and are are so relaxing. Not to mention how beautiful these jars are!
Gifts Just for Fun
Kindle– I have always wanted a Kindle but I’ve just never spent the money on myself. I love the idea of always having a book to read and being able to download a new book in seconds. You can take these just about anywhere and they don’t strain your eyes like a regular tablet, making it perfect to read in bed. Does your loved one prefer audiobooks? Give her the gift of an Audible subscription!
Books– You can never go wrong with a good book, whether it’s through Kindle, Audible, or a physical copy. “Love the Shit Out of Yourself” is a book of daily affirmations, perfect for someone who deals with chronic illness. Here are a few other books I recommend:
- “Whole New You: How Real Food Transforms Your Life for a Healthier, More Gorgeous You” by Tia Mowry
- “Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead” by Brene Brown
- “Carry On, Warrior: The Power of Embracing Your Messy, Beautiful Life” by Glennon Doyle
- “Ask Me About My Uterus: A Quest to Make Doctors Believe in Women’s Pain” by Abby Norman
- “Vagina Problems” by Lara Parker
- “The Self Love Journal: Banish Self-Doubt and Learn to Love Yourself” by Leslie Marchand
Adult Coloring Books– Adult coloring books are a great way to unwind and de-stress. And this one is motivating and funny at the same time! These are great for people with chronic illness because it gives them something fun to do from the comfort of their bed.
Everyone’s wants and needs are a bit different, but this list should be a good starting point for you as you’re shopping for a loved one with a chronic illness. Any of these gifts will show her you care and that you put a lot of thought into her gift. Happy shopping!
